Yahrtzeit

Yahrzeit, the annual commemoration of the death of a relative is usually observed by lighting a yahrzeit candle and reciting the Mourner¹s kaddish. It is commemorated on the Hebrew date of the death and the English date will vary from year to year.

Please note the Yahrtzeit commences on the evening prior to the date of the Yartzeit. The Yartzeit candle should be lit at this time Please click here for times of services

If you wish the names of the departed to be read out and a Hazkarah made on Shabbat, please complete and return the relevant form before the preceding Thursday. Will gentlemen please note, that if they are able to attend the Shabbat morning service prior to the Yahrzeit date, an aliyah will be given to them provided the office is notified not later than the preceding Wednesday. Otherwise, they may attend the Shabbat Mincha service for an aliyah.

It is traditional Jewish practice to make a donation in memory of the departed on their yahrzeit.
