Dear Congregants 

It is with pride and excitement that we inform you of the appointment of Rabbi Dovid and Sara Wineberg to lead our community, effective 1 September 2010.  Rabbi Wineberg brings with him a wealth of Rabbinic experience and is renowned for his oratory style and his energy.  He is also the founder and director of the Ichikowitz Family Tefillin Bank of Africa.

Rabbi Dovid Wineberg was born in New York and raised in Vancouver, Canada.  Educated in diverse Yeshivot such as USA, France and Russia, he received his Semicha in 1995 from the Chabad Chief Rabbinate in Israel.  Having served in various communities, including White Rock, B.C., Grenada, West Indies and Chief Rabbi of Wales in Cardiff, he eventually assumed the post of Associate Rabbi at the Sandton Shul, Johannesburg in 2000. 

Rebbetzin Sara is a mother to her 6 children as well as a respected educator and her Gefilte Fish is regarded by many as the best in SA!  Rebbetzin Sara is renowned for her community outreach and warm hospitality. 

While we at Marais Road are confident that this is the beginning of a fruitful relationship, Rabbi & Sara Wineberg are eager to become acquainted with each and every member and to be of service to you, the community.
