Mincha has moved! From today, Mincha starts at 6:15pm
Not for coming to Shul on the High Holy Days, who doesn’t?
Not for keeping the Shul full on (even during historically quiet times like) second day Rosh Hashanah & throughout the Yom Kippur day service. I mean, where else would you be?
I’m not even thanking you for the remarkable energy as we closed Yom Kippur with the Shema Yisroel & other verses. As one congregant wrote:
|…I was completely “in the moment “ and by the end of Ni’ila, I felt broken and high at the same time!!!! In fact I had difficulty falling asleep last night….
For that, we have to both thank G-d for His gift of Yom Kippur.
No. What I’d like to thank you, is for the non-stop feedback I’ve been receiving since the close of Yom Kippur. Phone calls, text messages & emails. Thank you for making the effort to share your reflections of your personal experience, of which the above is but a small, beautiful, sample.
Through your small efforts, I keep reliving the High of Yom Kippur- and I hope we could keep it going into the joy of Sukkot & Simchat Torah. Thank you!!
Speaking of thanks, our Shul owes an eternal debt of gratitude to our beloved Shammes Normie, who forever stamped our Shul with his unique brand.
Please join us on Monday Night at 6:30 to honour Normie on his fifth Yohrtzeit. Following the short service (where the sermon is entirely dedicated to Normie) we will have a fabulous Soup & Salads brocha in our Ben Wilder Sukkah, this year sponsored by the Wilder family in honour of Darren’s upcoming 50th birthday. Mazel Tov & Shkayach!
I’m not sure if you’re supposed to enter Yom Kippur smiling, but how could I not, when just the day before, Hillel Chemel and Josie (Tzofia Naomi) Low announced their engagement! Mazel Tov guys! The joy you bring those around you should continue to reflect back into yourselves for a beautiful life together on the very foundations and example that you have set in our midst.
Mazel Tov to Michael Abel of M&C Saatchi Abel on winning the Absa Jewish Business Achiever of the Year Award! We are supremely proud of Mike and Sara’s achievements and the positive impact they keep making on our wider society, as proud Jews. And another feather in Cape Town’s cap…
Hillary Murcia is an unstoppable force in our Shul administration but we hope she’ll take a short break to savour the birth of a Granddaughter in Australia! Mazel Tov Arnold & Hillary, May you continue having much nachas!
A warm welcome back to Hannah Soffer who just returned from celebrating the recent marriage of her granddaughter, Hailey Carlin to Michael Grossner in California- and a Mazel Tov on the birth of her great grandson in Israel. Mazel Tov!!
Condolences to Geoff Chait on the loss of his brother, Garth, just after Rosh Hashanah. May HaShem give you strength in this time.
