It has arrived Finally!

Note: From next week, Friday March 13, all Mincha services move to 6pm

Dear Friend,

The Coronavirus has landed in SA. From every angle- medical, statistics, experts- there is a need to maintain good hygiene practices, but no need, at this stage, for more extreme measures.

Hygienate- don’t hibernate!

As a picker-upper in the face of a world wide pandemic, HaShem gave us the joyous month of Adar & the holiday of Purim. And Marais Road Shul is giving you Shabbat unPlugged!

Yes, Shabbat unPlugged is finally here & we present Music & Mystery tonight with a pre-Shul party at 6:10. Drum circle, live music with Charles Summerfield, kids can win a bike, mishloach manot packing- and a mystery ingredient– will make for a great vibe-y Friday night Shabbat service. Can you guess the surprise??

Welcome to Rabbi Gideon Pogrund who will be our scholar in residence this Shabbas. Rabbi Pogrund is a Cambridge trained business ethicist who heads up a division of GIBS and widely consults with South Africa’s leading companies. He’s also an accomplished Torah scholar & teacher.

SA’s largest race, the Pick n Pay CT Cycle Tour (formerly, the “Argus”) takes place this Sunday and I wish all our congregants who are riding, a safe and great ride. A particular blessing to my wife Sara (who is leading team “Save Aaron”), Rabbi Pini & Yehuda Hecht & all other team members !
