Rabbi’s letter: A service in three acts

Earliest Candlelighting & Mincha are at 6:30. Remember to light candles and then make your way to Shul!

Dear friend,

Did you know that there are 3 parts to the fright night service? Mincha, Kabbalat Shabbat, and Maariv.

After Mincha, the choir begins singing ’Yedid nefesh’, a powerful Kabbalah song of the soul’s yearning for Hashem. This is the beginning of ‘Kabbalat Shabbat’, greeting the Shabbas. After ‘Lecha dodi’ (another Kabbalah composition, focusing on the beauty of Shabbas) we enter the Shabbas Maariv service, when the Chazan leads us with ‘Barchu’.

And now your kinderlach can join the Kabbalat Shabbat Klub! Rebranded by our new youth leader, Chanan, this is the kids chance to chill.

Kabbalat Klub is calling all pre and primary school age children to Marais Road Shul’s hall at 6.30pm.

Condolences to Thelma Gamsu on the loss of her brother, Raymond Spiro. May HaShem grant you comfort.

Join Rebbetzin Sara at the Ladies Tehillim Circle & Shiur this Shabbat mevarchim @ 7.00pm @ the Shul Hall.

I saw Mokkie Miller this week & he tells me that he & Necia are celebrating 60 years of marriage– Mazel Tov! When one contemplates on the abundant gifts from Hashem that allow a couple to be married for 60 years, it truly is a marvel. Many more years gezunterheit & with nachas!

Speaking of abundant blessings, Mazel Tov to Benny Schlosberg on his 80th Birthday! Benny will be reciting the Haftorah this Shabbas, which is a fitting way for this ‘Shul Yid’ to mark his milestone. May HaShem bless you and Rica with many healthy nachas-fillled years.

Daven e caffe kicks off this coming Friday 31 January with Tefillin @7am, followed by breakfast and vort with yours truly. Get the year off to a fresh start!!
